Christmas Card Project 2010
In mid-summer 2009 it was decided that the Rotary Club of Ayr would try to produce its own Christmas Card in aid of Shelter Boxes.
Alastair Swan of Ayr Camera Club kindly agreed to put the idea to them of holding a competition, the winning photograph from which would be used for our Christmas Card. They readily agreed.
The winner of the 2009 competition was the stunning “Winter Sunset, Culzean” by Mark McColl. 3000 of these were sold generating enough funds to buy a Shelter Box.
The 2010 competition saw another excellent crop of entries and the voting in our club produced a tie between “Frozen Seas at Greenan” and ”Red Deer Stag, Glen Muick”. Both these photographs proved to be by Alastair Swan so we produced both, in two sizes. For Christmas 2010 approximately 2500 cards were sold, raising enough money to buy a further Shelter Box.
The hope is that the spectacular early snow and ice in 2010/11 will produce another crop of stunning photographs for our Christmas Card 2011.
